The presiding judge of the Nasarawa High Court Justice R.G. Soji sitting at Mararabagurku-Karu has ordered the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police to arrest and bring to court the Registrar of Bingham University S.S Sule for running away from court on Monday when he was to be docked.
The warrant for his arrest signed by the judge said Sule committed contempt of court by running away from court and failing to show reason why he should not be committed to prison custody for disobeying the order of the court.
Six students were expelled by the school’s management on March 28 after been found guilty by the Senate of “breach of University Peace and Tranquility” after students staged a peaceful protest on February 18 over incessant cases of security breaches, water scarcity and lack of electricity supply to most parts of the campus.
The students expelled were Sanni Bernard Ozovehe, Lawson Rachael Abimbola, Iyala Chris Junior, Abaa Victor Nanen Carl, Adenikinju Olalekan, and Ionyekuba Loveline Kenechukwu.
The students who denied complicity in the demonstration on May 3 dragged the University and Vice Chancellor Prof. F.I. Anjorin before the High Court of Nasarawa State in the Mararaba Judicial Division at Karu seeking an order to reverse the decision to expel them and demanding N30million damages for the inconvenience suffered.
