Imo State University Commences Pre-Degree Program Application

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the admission into the One Year Extra-mural & Pre-Degree Programme of Imo State University for the 2009/2010 academic year.
A. The Extra-mural programme is for candidates with O'level deficiencies seeking a remedy through resiting the O'level examinations conducted by accredited public examination bodies like WAEC, NECO and NABTEB or Ume conducted JAMB. Subjects to be covered include: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Government, Lit-in-English, Igbo, Christian Religious Knowledge, Economics, Geography, Agricultural Science, French, History, Commerce and Principles of Account. Candidates will be required to register on their own with the public examination body of their choice.
B. The Pre-Degree programme is for candidates who already possess university admission requirements and seek to undergo a One Year Pre-Degree study preparatory to subsequent admission into the 100 level of Degree Programme of Imo State University, Owerri. Pre-Degree programme will be available in Sciences, Business, Social Sciences, Humanities, Education, Engineering and Law.
QUALIFICATION
1. Candidates for Extra-mural Studies must have attempted SSCE/GCE/NABTEB with evidence of the subjects filled for which remedy is sought.
2. Candidates for Pre-Degree must possess at least five (5) credit passes at not more two sittings at the SSCE or GCE (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) or equivalent qualification. For the Sciences, Engineering, Business, Social Sciences, Law and Education, the five credits must include English Language and Mathematics while for the Humanities and Education (Humanities) the five credits must include English Language.
3. Pre-degree candidates are expected to have taken the 2009 University Matriculation Examination (UME) by JAMB and scored at least 180 in the UME. They will also be required to take and pass the 2010 UME wit a score not less than 180.
4. Candidates should indicate their first choice of university in the UME and enclose the photocopy of their UME result notification slip when submitting their completed application form.
METHOD OF APPLICATION
Applicants should go to the under listed Banks In Owerri and the Imo State University Library to pay a total sum of N6,000.00 (Six thousand naira) only for on-line registration. The above amount includes the N500.00 for pin-code and Bank charges.
With the pin-code, applicants should go to the university Library or any cyber cafe and log onto the University website www.imsuonline.com and then follow the on-line procedure to fill the form.
