The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan Nigeria, rof. Isaac Adewole said the reason behind his school's effort in offering scholarships at all levels is to bridge the gaps in education between the privileged and the less privileged. Thus the underlying criteria for the 106 scholarships the university has just awarded to outstanding students.
The university had awarded full scholarships to the 106 graduates who passed out with First Class degrees in various disciplines during the last convocation late last year.
He however said the university took the decision in line with its mandate to spearhead massive production of postgraduate students.
He explained that the scholarship would cover tuition, accommodation and books, adding that they would also receive monthly stipends to enable them to concentrate on their studies.
